  • 200 gram tumbler Millet.
  • Yellow moong dhal 100 grams.
  • Black whole pepper:10
  • One teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Grated Ginger, half a teaspoon
  • Salt to taste 
  • Ghee, One tablespoon
  • Ten Cashew nuts –
  • One-fourth teaspoon of black pepper powder
  • One-fourth teaspoon cumin powder
  • Slightly crushed 6/7 curry leaves Whole
  • Ghee, 4 tablespoons


  • Roast the Moong dhal in 1 tsp ghee until it produces a mild aroma in the pressure cooker. 
  • In a pressure cooker, add peppers, cumin seeds, and grated ginger along with the millet that has been thoroughly rinsed in water.
  • To this mixture, add the water and salt mentioned above. 
  • When the pressure cooker has sounded five times, open it and stir well. 
  • After cooking for five whistles, let it cool.
  • To make the cashew nut ghee, heat the ghee and roast the nuts until golden brown. 
  • Pour the hot ghee with Curry leaves, cumin powder, and pepper powder for additional taste.
  • Pour this mixture over the cooked Pongal and mix well.

4. Khichdi Made With Foxtail Millet

Babies, toddlers, and children will enjoy this dish. Simple and easy to prepare, Foxtail Millet or Navane or Tenai Khichdi for babies or toddlers can be made from very few readily available ingredients at home. It is great for breakfast, evening snacks, and dinner.


  • Ghee/oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard – 1 teaspoon
  • 10 Curry Leaves
  • One-inch ginger 
  • Two tablespoons of cooked cumin (finely ground)
  • Powdered pepper – 1 tsp 
  • Four slits – Green Chilies
  • One cup of Foxtail Millet
  • Half a cup of Moong Dal
  • 6 cups of boiled water
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice (optional)
  • Two tbsp grated coconut (optional)
  • 10 pods of garlic (optional)


  • Ghee/oil is added to the pan, followed by the ingredients listed below.
  • Fill the same pan with the washed Foxtail Millet and Moong Dal, then pour the boiled water over them.
  • Cook it for 20 minutes or 3 whistles, adding salt as needed and lemon/coconut/garlic as needed.
  • It should be sufficient to soak Foxtail Millet and Moong Dal for 5-8 minutes.

  1. In a pan, heat some ghee or oil and add the following ingredients for the temper.

5. Foxtail Millet With A Carrot For Babies, Toddlers & Kids

For those who are short on time or need a quick snack, this recipe is what I make in those situations. The recipe requires only a few ingredients and is simple and easy to prepare. This recipe is easy to make and packed with nutrients and proteins. It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare. The total time is needed to get this done is 40 minutes.


  • 600 grams carrots
  • 100 grams millet

Steps To Prepare

  1. Prepare carrots by peeling and slicing them. Place carrots and millet in a pot, along with enough water to cover. Put on the stove and boil.
  1. Simmer until the vegetables are soft, about 30 minutes. Puree. Depending on the water content, add more.

6. Apple Pear Millet Porridge Recipe For Babies


  • 2 tablespoons millet
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • Peeled and cored 1/2 small green apple
  • Peeled and cored half a small pear

Steps To Prepare

  • Place millet in a coffee strainer and rinse it under running water.
  • Add the ingredients to a pot and cook for roughly half an hour until the porridge is thick.
  • For the porridge, smash the apple and pear pieces with a fork.
  • Serve it to your little one after waiting five minutes.

7. Baby Cereal With Toasted Millet


  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil, or more nutritious olive oil.
  • A cup of whole-grain millet
  • Two cups boiling water


  • First step: Oil should be heated in a large pan. Pour in 1 cup millet, and sauté. As the millet toasts and turns brown, stir it until it becomes fragrant.
  • Second step: 2 cups of boiling water should be added. The pan should be covered and the liquid absorbed for 30 minutes. Allow it to stand for five minutes, and then fluff it up.
  • Third step: If your baby is age-appropriate, you can add spices like cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla, as well as fruits, vegetables, and/or other foods.

8. Apples, Carrots, and Millet Stew


  • Three cups diced carrots
  • Half a cup of millet, uncooked
  • One and a half cups of water

  • Second step: You can serve these as finger food meals or snacks.

  • One cup of pearl millet (200 g)

  • Get rid of the stones by cleaning the millet. Soak the millet for 30 minutes in water. Allow it to drain and dry in the shade.

11. Millet & Corn Dosa


  • One cup of corn
  • A cup of millet 
  • A cup of black gram dal
  • Add salt to taste
  • Fenugreek seeds, 1 teaspoon


  • Put the corn and millet into separate soaking pots. In the meantime, soak the fenugreek seeds and urad dal separately.
  • Put all these ingredients into a food processor with the salt until you reach a dosa batter consistency.
  • Ferment the ingredients for six hours.
  • Prepare soft dosas.

12. Little Millet Biryani

If you are a fan of biryani, then this recipe can help you introduce flavour to your kids. Baby food feeding can be made great by introducing new tastes.


  • One cup of little millet, cleaned
  • Two tablespoons of ghee
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • Chop 1 tbsp mint leaves
  • Three cardamom pods
  • One-fourth tsp powdered cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds, powdered
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • Chopped carrots, beans, drumsticks, green peas
  • Finely chopped 1/4 cup onion
  • A cup of thick curd
  • Taste for salt


  • Ghee should be heated in a pan. Fennel powder, cinnamon, and cardamom should be roasted for two minutes.
  • Ginger-garlic paste, mint, onion, and tomato are added to the pan and fried for 3 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chopped vegetables and curd.
  • Check vegetables after 5 minutes to see if they are done.
  • Then add the millet. Cook with 2 cups of water until it is done.
  • With papad, serve warm.

13. Adai With Spicy Millet


  • Approximately 150 grams of foxtail millet
  • Kodo millet, 150 grams
  • 150 grams of barnyard millet
  • 150 grams of black gram dal
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • Two red chillies
  • 1 teaspoon peppercorns
  • An inch of ginger
  • Chop 2 tablespoons of curry leaves
  • Two pinches of asafoetida
  • Add salt to taste


  • The millet, black gram, cumin, black pepper, and chillies must be dry-roasted.
  • Make a thick batter by grinding together ginger and a little water.
  • Ensure the curry leaves and asafoetida are well incorporated before adding salt.
  • Prepare a thick Tawa by smearing it with oil.
  • Spread a ladleful of the batter in the shape of a dosa so that it is just a little thicker than a dosa.
  • Cook on medium heat.
  • Cook until it is done by flipping over, drizzling a little oil around it, and cooking.
  • It can be served hot with chutney or a piece of jaggery.

14. Spicy Paniyaram with Foxtail Millet

There is no doubt that baby food feeding could use some spices, and millet is incredibly healthy for babies.


  • A cup of Foxtail millet
  • A cup of boiled (idli) rice
  • A cup of black gram dal
  • 1 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • Cut up one onion finely
  • Finely chopped green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • One tablespoon of Bengal gram dal
  • Chopped coriander, 1 tsp
  • A teaspoon of chopped curry leaves
  • Cooking with ghee


  • Wash the millet, rice, fenugreek seeds, and black gram in water. Let them soak together for three hours.
  • Using a mixer or grinder, grind the ingredients to the consistency of a dosa batter.
  • Then add salt and let it ferment for eight hours.
  • The remainder of the ingredients should be added and mixed well.
  • Put a teaspoon of oil into each paniyaram mould and heat it.
  • Pour a tbsp of the batter into each mould and allow it to cook.
  • Carefully flip it over and let it cook until brown spots appear.
  • Put them on a plate.
  • You can serve this dish with coconut chutney.

15. Sweet Pongal Made With Foxtail Millet


  • 200 grams of foxtail millet
  • 250 grams of jaggery
  • 50 grams of ghee
  • Five broken cashew nuts
  • 15 raisins
  • One teaspoon of cardamom powder


  • Millet should be roasted in a pan with a little ghee until golden brown.
  • Set aside roasted cashews and raisins with a little ghee.
  • In a small saucepan, heat four teaspoons of water and jaggery until it dissolves.
  • Remove dirt by straining.
  • Back on the stove, heat the jaggery until it thickens and forms a syrup.
  • Add 400 ml of hot water to the roasted millet and heat.
  • Boil it for a few minutes.
  • Little by little, add ghee.
  • Jaggery syrup should be added halfway through cooking.
  • Cooking will cause the mixture to come off the sides of the pan.
  • Incorporate the cashews, raisins, and cardamom powder now.
  • You can now enjoy your millet sweet Pongal.
  • So your child grows up to be healthy and learns how valuable these traditional grains are.
