Baby Food Recipes Using Millet Health Mix For Babies Aged 8 To 12 Months

I introduced solids to my daughter after the first few months. Her diet consists primarily of fruits and vegetables. Some of these foods she loves while others she hates. “Banana” was one of them, which she frowns at today. Then I tried 8 month old baby food with millet health mix.

At some point, she had tried all of the combinations of fruits and vegetables I could think of. Her taste buds were aching for something different.

This seemed like an ideal time to start introducing grains to her diet. We began with quinoa, and then we added ‘millet’. Even though it is said that millet can be introduced to babies as early as 6 months, I wanted to be on the safe side and introduced her at 8 months.

The nutritional value and versatility of millet make it an excellent baby food option. In addition to being used as a cereal and porridge for babies, it can also be added to fruits and vegetables for added flavor. This makes it an excellent protein source. In addition to proteins, it contains vitamin B, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, and calcium.

Millet Health Mix: 8 Month Old Baby Food

The recipe for making Millet porridge for babies using Millet Health Mix is shown below as a step-by-step guide.

Let’s talk about the preparation and cooking time. Time is of the essence when you have a child, a home, and a job to take care of.  It only takes 25 minutes to put together this recipe. Preparation takes 10 minutes, and cooking takes 15 minutes.

You need these ingredients to make millet health mix at home

  • One and a half cups of foxtail millet
  • 1/4 cup Kodo millet
  • 1/4 cup Algae lentils or split yellow moong dal
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp hing (asafoetida).

Do not worry if you cannot find these ingredients, simply get Millet Health Mix from Yummy valley.

These are the Ingredients needed to make Millet Health mix for babies aged 8-12 months

  • One and a half tablespoons of millet health mix powder
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon ghee

Steps to follow

  • Make sure all the ingredients are measured out.
  • After cleaning the millets, first rinse the varagu and foxtail millet.
  • Let them dry under the sun for an hour, then rinse them well and drain the water. You can roast them now; I started with foxtail millet.
  • You want the millet to become crisp, so roast until golden brown. When it is golden brown, remove it from the heat and let it cool. Stir in the Kodo millet.
  • Set aside and let cool after roasting till golden. Once roasted, add moong dal and roast until golden brown. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  • Once the cumin roast is slightly browned, add the hing (asafoetida) roast for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Once cooled, transfer the mixture to a mixer and grind it into a semi-fine powder. Although it will seem a bit coarse when touched, this is the consistency you want. Leave it to cool off for a few minutes before storing.

This all seems to be a lot of work, but I have food an easy way with Yummy Valley’s Millet Health Mix. It has more nutrients and tastes delicious. Try to make the 8 month old baby food well balanced in terms of nutrients.

  • Stir until blended. Cook on low heat.
  • As the sauce thickens, continue cooking it at a low flame.
  • After a while, it will become thicker, more like a thick sauce. You can now add the ghee and turn the stove off.  Please serve warm.
